MV OCEAN VIKING. Regular daily sailings from the port of Hartlepool Iron Ore berth to -Bergen - Rotterdam - Zeebruge - Ostend.

A Word on Safety

                                      Gert Trondheim. Senior Safety Officer

We wish you all a very safe and happy passage here on board Ocean Viking but please allow me to take a few moments of your time to explain the safety rules that you must obey.

It is important for you to know that any emergency will be broadcast over the ship’s Tannoy and a further signal will be given by the hooter on the ships funnel. Six blasts on the hooter, for example, means we are sinking and you are advised to proceed directly to the lifeboat - Looting will not be tolerated in any way.

It is recommended you purchase your life-jacket at the earliest opportunity. These items are on sale at the Castaway gift shop and chemist situated at the back of the ship on deck three, and is where you can also get your raffle ticket for the lifeboat.

Smoking is only permitted on the outside decks and with the use of the all-in-one body bag smoking suits, available from the ships’ engineering department.

Please do not throw objects over the side of the ship as this is against maritime law, and may injure the crew who are painting the hull when we are at sea.

It is most important that you wear warm clothing at all times so you can be prepared for any eventuality that may occur. However, the removal of cabin bedding for sun bathing purposes is strictly forbidden and access to the lifeboat must be kept clear in case we sink.

Thank you for you attention and I wish you all a pleasant sailing time here on board Ocean Viking.
