I'm Verity Peach, your on-board entertainment officer, and i'll be popping in from time to time with our Ocean Waves newsletter. I'd like to join Captain Klijsterdorf and the entire crew in welcoming you on board Ocean Viking, and I'll be doing my best to keep you up to date with everything that's going on around the ship.
A regular feature on Ocean Waves is the announcement of any birthdays we may have on board, and today, we have two!
It's a very happy Ocean Viking birthday to Mrs Leatherbarrow in cabin 2238. We hope you have a wonderful day and enjoy the complementary bowl of fruit we've placed in your cabin.
The second birthday today is non other than our very own, Captain Klijsterdorf's! and he has told us of an unusual tradition that occurs each birthday back home in his native Norway - the recital of a poem!
Well, we've managed to tease a verse out of him, and he says it's a favourite from when he was a boy in Vorstbjorking. It's been translated into English and works very well i think:
